Sun in Gemini

Friday, May 20, 3:48 pm PDT

The Sun's entry into Gemini tends to brighten minds and lighten steps. It's a season for sauntering from one idea to another, from one experience to the next. Like a bee looking for flowers to pollinate, we need to allow plenty of time to explore our options. A variety of people and activities stimulate and even distract us from pushing straight ahead, but it is this wandering among various points of interest that is the essence of this sign.

Full Moon in Sagittarius
Monday, May 23, 1:19 pm PDT

The Sagittarian Moon pulls our attention to a faraway place or time, a better world rich with meaning and truth. The Sun in Gemini, though, is busy with the moment's million and one activities, diverting attention from the Sagittarian big picture view. Uranus square the Full Moon adds even more movement to this restless lunation, ideas flipping over in the mind like pages of a wind blown book. Easy aspects from Jupiter and Chiron add wisdom and generosity of spirit that allow us to keep communicating, even when it seems as if we're speaking different languages.

Mercury in Gemini
Saturday, May 28, 3:44 am PDT

Mercury entering its airy home sign keeps phones ringing, emails flying and thoughts racing hither and yon. There's a definite buzz in the air that stimulates thoughts, some of which change so quickly that there's no time for them to be registered in memory. But holding onto information is not the purpose of this transit. We are opening roads by which new ideas and people can pass, rather than building permanent outposts of certainty or safety.

The Buddha

(whose name means: *The Awakened One* or *One who Knows*)

is regarded as the ninth incarnation of Lord Vishnu.

He was born on the Full Moon day in the month of May, Vaisakh in 563 BC. Traditionally, Buddha's Birthday is known as Vesak

or Visakah Puja (Buddhas Day).

Vesak, the major Buddhist festival of the year,

celebrates the birth, enlightenment and death of the Buddha

on the one and the same day.

*, Also known as May Eve, May Day, and Walpurgis Night, happens at the beginning of May. It celebrates the height of Spring and the flowering of life. The Goddess manifests as the May Queen and Flora. The God emerges as the May King and Jack in the Green. The danced Maypole represents Their unity, with the pole itself being the God and the ribbons that encompass it, the Goddess. Colors are the Rainbow spectrum. Beltane is a festival of flowers, fertility, sensuality, and delight.

Beltane...the old Celtic name for May Day...means bright fire or fire of Bel,

the name of the solar force...who’s feast marks the beginning of the 2nd half of the year.../Wood from 9 sacred trees are gathered, & the great Bel-fire is built & ritualistically ignited by the High priestess or Arch-Druid…the people would jump these ‘need-fires’ for fertility, healing & protection. Torches lit from it were carried home to re-light the hearth fires...they would walk the animals in-between them to ensure a good season...this is the mating season after all for man & beast…there were other May Day customs, like, walking the circuit of one’s property, repairing fences & boundary markers, processions of all kinds, archery tournaments, Morris dances, sword play, & of course making merry with music & drinking.../May morning is a time when the veil between the worlds can easily be pushed aside…but instead of the spirits coming into our realm from the other side…which is the case with Halloween…the polar opposite of May Day, on the wheel of the year…the fairies can enchant us over into their mystical realms…this is a magical time…perfect for gathering ‘wild’ water...especially the May morning dew, or water from hidden wells & springs...these wild waters were collected  & used to bath in for beauty, or to drink for health.../May Day is considered the start of summer...the time of milk & honey…this sensuous fertile energy is totally universal…& can be applied on many different levels…when we acknowledge these creative forces in the dance of our lives, it takes us to our own personal, modern-day version of dancing around the Maypole... where we weave & combine the opposing energies within ourselves... blending them into one balanced source...so yes, whether you know it or not, there will be at least one song that plays in your sub-conscious head this week, when you are The God & Goddess of this ancient May Day ritual...the Queen of the May & Her loving consort…because our body like the body of the earth instinctively knows it’s Beltane...the time of vitality & passion & new growth...& the wisdom of our spirit seeks the natural union of polarities that occur at this time...giving us the opportunity for integration... in the alchemical dance of our souls… Because under all the sexual innuendo & frivolity, it’s really all about the inner mystic marriage, the symbolic union, of fire & water, opposites complimenting each other, to become one, bringing all the elements into balance.../you’ll just have to go dancing naked in the forest preserve on your own time...for now, lets work to unify the polarities of our being, by sparking the new fire of creative fertility & passion...& marrying it with the beautiful, healing waters of compassion & pure love...So we can truly celebrate the marriage feast of our lives, with a grounded, mindful joy...Blessings & Peace - H.A.G.
